The Exeter School was established in 1992, following Mr Taverner's return from Canada as a 1st Dan, after training with GrandMaster Park Jong Soo (then an 8th Dan) he decided to open a school in Exeter and pass on his knowledge. After various problems and disappointments with many other Taekwon-do Associations, Mr Taverner decided to register the Exeter School with GrandMaster Rhee Ki Ha and the UKTA, with affiliation to the ITF, since then the school has grown from strength to strength and the overall standard of Taekwon-do is very high.
With regular newsletters, training sessions, gradings and competitions the Exeter Schools calendar of events each year is always very busy. The school is a non profit making organisation, all positions are voluntary and all funds are put back into supporting students at area training sessions, gradings, National and International competitions along with promoting the Exeter School. The school boasts tonnes of National and International Champions in all categories of colour and black belt, with many of Mr Taverner's black belts achieving International honours along with an impressive medal haul from Junior & Senior European and World Championships.
