Name: Jenny Nsunta Grade: 3rd Dan Years training: 13 How did you become involved in TKD: My best friend was leaving to go to university and wanted to learn some self defence skills. Unfortunately she gave up whilst at university. Instructor: Mr Philip Taverner 5th Dan Who else has had a big impact on your TKD life? : Of course Mr Taverner has been an inspiration and has always encouraged me to perform to the best of my ability. Mrs Taverner has also provided support and been a terrific practitioner to aspire to. Master Taylor and Master Prewett and their students for their ever warm welcome right from white belt. And not forgetting the students I train with week in week out. These people are easy to over look but are the people we spend the majority of training time with! What do you enjoy most about TKD? : I love everything about TKD, the fitness you have to achieve and maintain, the ever changing challenges, the mental strengths you gain. And the fascination of observing people from very different back grounds with very little in common joining together in this magnetic martial art. What is your best memory if TKD? : There many good memories and very few bad ones. The few that stick out are: - grading for my yellow stripe, winning my first national gold, Exeter summer camps, being selected for the England national team and competing on the same squad as my instructor. Closing statement – (sum up what TKD means to you) : An addiction which becomes more intense as the years pass by. |
